This week features a lovely (though occasionally freewheeling) conversation with my internet friend Kyle Simons. Our paths have been crossing for nearly a decade, including even singing on a song together (“I Was a Rope” by Harsh Lights), and yet this was our first time to have a true voice-to-voice conversation with one another. I had a delightful time discussing one of Kyle’s favorite albums, Everything Starts Where It Ends by Lovedrug, talking about our musical inspirations and recording processes (particularly in regards to Kyle’s project Patterns in Traffic), and answering his questions about my song “Programming the Soul.” The episode ends with the original 2016 demo of the song, which at the time was titled “The Science of Programming the Soul.”
