In perhaps the Clubcast’s most unorthodox episode yet, I’ve decided to share the voice memo I recorded on my phone of the house concert that I played this past weekend in North Carolina, alongside an amazing artist named Moon Bride. I told some people that I was getting to perform at a “conference,” but it ended up being a much smaller event than I predicted (probably better described as a “leaders summit” than a conference); likewise, this performance ended up being far more intimate than I had predicted. You’ll hear kids moving around, people coughing, etc., and the crowd was extremely interactive. We intended to tell stories between each song, but the crowd involvement caused many of these stories to double or triple in length, which ultimately resulted in Moon Bride and me playing six total songs rather than eight (as we’d prepared). Shortened set aside, it was a wonderful time, and I hope the fun of the concert translates well through this admittedly low-quality performance. My set includes one song from Unfall, another from Unfall II, three from Accidental Days, and then concludes with a never-before-heard new song!

I’m writing this article as a way to explain why I’m releasing so much music, to explore whether it’s plausible for a songwriter to write this much new material on such a prolific basis, and whether the concept of “too much music” is fairly, evenly applied across all artists.
